Saraswathi Pooja is performed to invoke the blessings of Saraswati, the Goddess of learning, and the presiding deity of the spoken word.The last three days of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Pooja is performed to her in the month of Ashwin (sept-oct).She is worshipped in the form of a book on Mahasapthami, the seventh day of the waxing Moon during Navratri.It starts with Saraswati Avahan – Invocation of Goddess Saraswati when moola nakshatra is on the ascent and the pooja ends on Vijayadasami.
Saraswathi is also called: Bharati means eloquence, Mahavidya- transcendent knowledge, MaHomami- transcendent word, Brahmi – power of the immense being, Dhaneswari – divinity of wealth, Bijagarbha – womb of the elements of speech, Vacdevi – divinity of speech.
